THE WATER RANCH
The Water Ranch establishes a landscape framework designed to integrate new architectural additions with an existing waterfront setting.
The renovation included a substantial transformation of the residence as well as the addition of a detached two-story garage and guest house. The landscape concept was developed to reconcile these new structures with circulation demands, privacy concerns, and environmental constraints while maintaining a cohesive outdoor experience.

Vehicular access became a central organizing element. The redesigned driveway accommodates generous parking for family and guests while responding to lot coverage and permeability requirements. Gravel overflow areas were incorporated to soften the hardscape and maintain material continuity across the site.
Arrival is structured through a contemporary stucco wall that screens the parking court from the boulevard, establishing privacy and architectural presence at the street edge. Circulation paths extend from this threshold, connecting the main house, guest quarters, and outdoor gathering spaces in a deliberate progression.
A private side garden introduces a quieter counterpoint within the broader program. An outdoor shower and dedicated surfboard storage reflect the family’s coastal lifestyle, transforming a transitional zone into a purposeful courtyard.
In the rear yard, the pool terrace was expanded and brought flush to pool level, strengthening spatial continuity and increasing usable area. A barrel sauna adds a wellness component, while a firepit positioned beneath mature oaks creates a sheltered gathering space oriented toward the water.
Planting strategy emphasizes scale and softness. Mature date palms define the approach, while preserved native sabal palms anchor the property within its coastal context. Sculptural olive trees and layered shrub masses establish rhythm and texture without excess.
The Water Ranch balances programmatic complexity with composure, shaping an environment that feels relaxed, cohesive, and responsive to its waterfront setting.
