—To Realization
From Concept

Every landscape we design begins with understanding how you live - and how your outdoor spaces can best support that life.

Our process is thoughtful and structured, guiding projects from initial concept through construction. We bring clarity, vision, and calm direction to complex outdoor environments.

Our Approach

Helix Green approaches each project through a highly considered, design-led process rooted in landscape architecture principles. Every project begins with a thorough understanding of the site, architecture, client goals, and long-term vision before progressing through conceptual planning, permitting and review approvals, design development, construction documentation, and implementation oversight.

Our work extends beyond planting design to shape complete outdoor environments - integrating circulation, structure, materiality, planting, and spatial experience into a cohesive whole. Each phase is approached with a high level of detail, coordination, and intentionality to ensure the finished landscape reflects the original vision with clarity and precision.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN ADVISORY

For clients in the early stages of planning, we offer on-site landscape design advisory sessions focused on evaluating the property, discussing priorities, and exploring initial ideas for the site.

These meetings are intended to provide professional guidance around layout, functionality, material direction, and overall project potential before entering a larger design engagement.

Following the meeting, clients receive a concise summary outlining key recommendations and next steps.

Advisory Investment

  • 60-Minute Session: $500

  • 90-Minute Session: $650

On-site advisory sessions outside of a 30-mile radius may incur a travel fee.

CONCEPT DESIGN + MASTER PLANNING

Every successful landscape begins with a clear and well-resolved concept. This phase establishes the overall vision for the property: organizing the site, defining spatial relationships, and aligning the landscape with how the space will be experienced and used over time.

Concept design and master planning engagements are ideal for clients seeking early design direction, working within accelerated timelines, or not requiring the level of documentation and coordination involved in our comprehensive full-service design packages.

By focusing on the big picture first, we help eliminate uncertainty later in the process and create a cohesive framework for future decision-making, budgeting, and phased implementation.

This phase may include:

  • Site organization and layout

  • Circulation and program planning

  • Outdoor living and amenity placement

  • Preliminary material and planting direction

  • Pool, spa, and feature integration

  • Grading and tree preservation considerations

  • HOA / ARB review packages

  • Alignment with project priorities and budget expectations

While more streamlined than our full-service design engagements, these plans are developed with the clarity and intentionality required to guide real-world implementation and long-term planning.

Many projects begin with concept design or master planning before transitioning into comprehensive landscape design and construction oversight as the project evolves.

COMPREHENSIVE LANDSCAPE DESIGN

Our comprehensive design services guide projects from concept through construction documentation. We develop complete site plans, custom garden elements, detailed planting strategies and schedules, hardscape layout plans, irrigation plans, lighting plans and site detailing  -  supported by immersive 3D visualizations that allow you to fully understand the design before construction begins.

Each project is carefully developed to address structure, proportion, circulation, and material relationships, ensuring that every element feels intentional and connected.

IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT

We collaborate with trusted contractors and conduct site visits throughout the build process to ensure the design intent is executed with care and precision. Our involvement during construction provides clarity, continuity, and a level of oversight that protects both the vision and the investment.

This level of engagement is best suited for clients undertaking comprehensive landscape projects with a meaningful construction scope. Typical project investments begin at $150,000 and involve a fully developed design process from concept through construction documentation and oversight.

Comprehensive landscape design engagements typically span several months, depending on project complexity, coordination requirements, permitting timelines, and overall scope.

Let’s discuss your project

COMPREHENSIVE LANDSCAPE DESIGN PROCESS

Our process is structured to bring clarity to complex projects while ensuring the design vision is carried through each phase with intention and care.

  • Every project begins with a brief introductory call to ensure alignment and scope. If we move forward, the process begins with a paid on-site visit.

During this meeting, we walk the property together, discuss your goals, evaluate existing conditions, and begin identifying opportunities and constraints. This visit allows us to understand the site firsthand and establish a clear framework for the project.

Following the visit, you will receive a written proposal outlining scope, deliverables, timeline, and fee structure.

  • We begin by developing a comprehensive site inventory and base plan using the provided survey and information gathered during our site assessment.

From this foundation, we establish the spatial framework of the project — organizing circulation, outdoor living areas, planting zones, and structural elements into a cohesive concept plan.

To clearly communicate the vision, we utilize plan-view renderings, illustrative studies, and curated planting themes that convey the overall direction and character of the design.

When required, this phase may also include preparation of documentation for HOA/ARB review.

  • Following client feedback, the concept plan is refined and expanded into a comprehensive master plan.

This phase further defines material palettes, spatial relationships, grading considerations, and planting strategy. We study proportion, alignment, and transitions to ensure each element feels integrated and intentional.

To support clarity and alignment, we may utilize elevation studies, perspective drawings, and/or 3D visualizations to represent the design accurately before construction begins.

  • Upon approval of the master plan, we develop detailed construction documents.

These technical drawings communicate the design clearly to the selected landscape contractor and provide the framework for implementation. Documentation may include layout plans, demolition plans, planting plans with specifications, material schedules, construction details, irrigation coordination (if required), and lighting plans.

When required, documentation may also be prepared to support municipal permitting, lot coverage calculations, or coastal regulatory review.

Our goal in this phase is precision — ensuring the design intent is clearly documented and build-ready.

  • With documentation complete, we assist in obtaining contractor proposals and facilitate on-site meetings as needed.

Once a contractor is selected, we remain involved throughout installation - conducting site visits, reviewing progress, and addressing questions to ensure the design is executed with care and fidelity.

Our oversight provides continuity between drawing and built work, protecting both the vision and the investment while helping the project move forward smoothly.
