Design Process

CONSULTATION
Every project begins with a brief introductory call to ensure we're the right fit. If we proceed, the design process starts with a paid on-site visit and 60-minute consultation. During this consultation, we'll thoroughly explore your goals for the space, assess the existing conditions, offer initial design ideas and feedback, and answer any questions you may have. Following the consultation, we'll provide a written project proposal outlining our fee structure, design process, and a comprehensive summary of your project goals and deliverables.

CONCEPT DESIGN
We begin by developing a base plan and a comprehensive site inventory using a provided survey and/or site plan and the information from our initial site visit. This, combined with your project goals, informs our concept design, which illustrates the interplay of site elements, planting areas, and circulation. To clearly communicate our design vision, we utilize plan view renderings and illustrative plant theme boards.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Following initial client feedback, the concept plan is refined and developed into a comprehensive master plan. This plan includes proposed material palettes, spatial arrangements, and a planting palette that describes the overall character of the planting design. To ensure clear communication and alignment, we utilize graphical elements such as elevation studies, perspective drawings, and/or 3D models to visually represent the design.

CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS
Upon master plan approval, we develop technical drawings, also known as Construction Documents. These detailed plans communicate to the landscape contractor how the project will be implemented. These documents may include layout plans, demolition/vegetation management plans, detailed planting plans with specifications, site details, material specifications and quantities, section drawings, irrigation plans (if required), and landscape lighting plans.

ESTIMATION AND IMPLEMENTATION
Following completion of the construction drawings, we begin the estimation and construction oversight phase. We conduct on-site meetings with trusted contractors to obtain project quotes. Once a contractor is selected, we work closely with them to ensure the project stays on schedule, within budget, and is installed according to the design intent. We conduct regular site visits to maintain quality control and are present during key project milestones. Our goal is to minimize construction challenges and provide effective solutions when issues arise, ensuring the design is faithfully executed and the process remains as stress-free as possible for our clients.
